— Chaplain (Colonel) (Ret’d) J Jenkins
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, April 12, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — These Honored Dead: Reflections on the 20th birthday of 9/11 by Chaplain (Colonel) (Ret) J Jenkins is a book that describes the experiences of an Army chaplain who officiated at the first two memorial services held at the Pentagon after 9/11, and his support for survivors. It is a call to America to never forget the more than a million other Americans who died for their country, and to encourage today’s overworked “all-volunteer” military. The book also serves to trace the struggle and eventual breakthroughs of Native Americans, African Americans, Japanese and Chinese minorities in relation to military service.
Chaplain (Colonel) (Retired) Joel Jenkins and his wife, Donna, reside in Charlottesville, Virginia. His service included active duty, as well as National Guard and Army Reserve service. He served one year in Iraq on General Martin Dempsey’s staff as Command Chaplain of MNSTC-I. He has also pastored churches in North Carolina and Virginia. His last position was Chaplain of the Rear Detachment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 2011, with 27 years of service.
