EJ Obiena hires legal counsel in Patafa row

EJ OBIENA has secured the services of a lawyer to represent him in the litigation with the Philippine Track and Field Association (Patafa).

Obiena said in a Facebook post that law firm Gana Tan Atienza Avisado will represent him as authorities investigate the controversy over the salaries of his trainer Vitaly Petrov.

“Today, I officially engaged Atty. Alex Avisado and Gana Tan Atienza Avisado law firms as legal counsel to represent me in all current and future investigations, including the filing of any possible and appropriate civil, criminal and administrative action, ”Obiena said.

Obiena thanked coach and advisor James Lafferty for taking over “the clubs for me and defending me in public as if I were his own blood”. Lafferty recently spoke in favor of Obiena and even revealed that several countries have expressed interest in providing her with a passport.

Obiena also revealed that Lafferty and attorney Bobbet Bruce will now be his official spokespersons in the case.

“I also asked Jim Lafferty and Atty. Bobbet Bruce in Manila to be my official spokesperson to represent me, to get my message across properly and to officially answer all relevant questions regarding my current situation with my NSA, ”Obiena said.
