Law360 (July 29, 2021, 10:02 p.m. EDT) – A group of cannabis companies in Southern California have accused their former general counsel of selling them to competitors for the benefit of his own cannabis business.
The malpractice case went to federal court on Wednesday and is the latest lawsuit to stem from a disagreement between the companies and Louisiana attorney Claiborne Tanner over the handling of funds raised for various marijuana businesses in 2017 to 2019.
Paul S. Marks, an attorney for Tanner, called the trial Thursday a “desperate attempt by the real culprits of this saga to blame their own misconduct.”
